Hi;
Is there an stablish procedure or existing tool to import a batch of accounts generated from other application to a plain text file or .xls??? I want to import all my defined customer accounts from my finance application right inside centric. This finance application may export customer accounts info to a plain .txt file or to a .xls file.

Hi Tamer,
Have you looked at the Import wizards in the Contacts and Accounts module? They make it pretty simple to import data in CVS (Excel export) format. They are only capable of data that you find on the Account or Contact Details page, but they do that very well and are quite flexible. To use them, first access your data in Excel, and save in cvs (Windows) format. Then use the Import wizard to upload and process the data.

Thanks for your soon response!!! Tom I have tested the tool and It works great! One thing I notice is the importation doesn't takes the Account Number defined on the CSV and all the contact are imported as "Organization"... Is it possible to import them as "Individual"??? If yes, how may I do it???. Does the cells where account number is written has to have a special cell type??? Thanks again...

Hi Tamer,
This has been fixed for Centric 3.2, where in an import performed under Accounts module - Contacts with no company information are imported as Individual accounts with primary contact information. You can just map account number to an existing column in your import file and import the records.

Sorry if I got lost somewhere. You said this have been improved for Centric 3.2 but isn't the last version 3.1 or you're refering to something else? I have tried this importation from "Accounts" module on Group 3.1 Stable release, getting an "Invalid account Name" error for records with no company name...

The modifications have been made, but 3.2 is not yet released. Ananth means that you will be able to use them starting with 3.2 Test 1. Can't tell you yet when it will be out, but pretty soon.
