Email links points to localhost

2/3/2011 4:33 AM EST

Hi Matt,

I have set up concourseconnect and everything seems fine except that the emails that are being sent with hyper links are actually pointing the localhost.How to change this value from localhost to my host name.

I don't think i have given localhost anywhere while setting up theproduct except for Database.

Hello Sreedhar,

There are two ways to set the domain name for emails...

1) In some versions of Connect (maybe only in the latest builds), when the Administrator logs into the site with a different domain name then was previously set, a prompt is displayed for changing the domain name used for emails.

2) If that doesn't exist in your version, then the manual method is to set an application preference in build.properties with the correct domain name. Look in the server's fileLibrary for build.properties and change the value... for example:
URL.DOMAIN_NAME=www.example.com

Hello y'all,
Is there a way to check, or update, the email settings for the connect application after it is up and running?
Chris

Hi Chris, all settings are stored in a property file called "build.properties" which is stored under the fileLibrary path that was specified during install. In there you can see all the discrete properties and then you'll have to restart Tomcat for them to take effect.

I think for Linux it is /var/lib/concursive or /opt/concursive

I'd have to lookup the defaults for the other platforms.

I found the build.properties, thank you, and the email account is set up correctly, but I am not receiving any emails from the application. In other words when someone signs up for an account, neither they, nor the admin, receive an email. Inviting someone into a project is not working either. I am using a localhost setup on Snow Leopard.

One more thing... see if there are any messages reported in Tomcat's logs/catalina.out

OK, Thank you Matt. The Tomcat logs helped sort out the email problem. I can now email out. I just needed to set up the build properties file correctly. Another problem though is when people try to sign up, and they click on the "Terms of service link, it takes them to the log in page, not the terms of service page. How can we fix this?
