How does one add a regular document as an attachment? Right now I only see capability for adding a survey....

You can attach regular documents as attachments to a Campaign. To do so, create a campaign and then under the attachments section for the Campaign, you should be able to attach files to the Campaign.
Follow this trails within your CRM:
Communications > Campaign List > Campaign Details > Attachments.
You'll have following attachment options:
- Surveys
- File Attachments
- Address update request
In the next release, you will see a new feature, which will allow Campaign Messages to have file attachments too.
