Eval questions -- email, offline usage

8/26/2005 3:31 PM EDT

Hi, we're evaluating CRM packages. We're got some couple key requirements, and I couldn't find a quick answer as to whether Centric supported them.

1. Good email integration. We do 90% of our customer interaction via email, and I want every email that comes into the company to go through the system. It should, at a minimum, be stored, and should also automatically be attached to a contact if one exists that has that email address. How does the product integrate with email?

2. Offline usage. Our sales reps travel, and need to get at customer info while not connected to the Internet. If they enter info, it needs to be merged back into the main database. Possible?

3. Keep some contacts and personal mail private. Individuals receiving personal email should be able to keep it private. (Not from the administrator, but from everyone else).

How does Centric handle these things?

1. Email integration - We are just getting started on email integration, and do not have much at this point. It would be simple to use procmail on Linux with our XML-RPC API to do the mail processing that you propose.

2. Offline - similarly, we have done some work here, though nothing is yet released. Sorry, I do not have a date for when we will release it.

3. Privacy - Contacts can be private, public, or viewable by your organizational hierarchy. System mail is, by default, private. If you mean mail coming in from the outside, I would have to say that Centric CRM does not currently act as a mail server, and so would probably not be receiving email for its users.

I would like to add to Tom's message that Centric CRM currently has an unintended limited offline capability of being able to export leads, contacts and account contacts from a local centric installation and import them from the main installation when the user is online.
