Installation Milestones

Hardware Requirements

Configurations depend on the number of users and the amount of data. Installation requires 50 MB of disk space, however actual space requirements will be substantially more depending on the amount of data and documents to be stored. Keep in mind that data and documents are additionally indexed and versioned which requires additional space.

We recommend RAID with dual power supplies and a hot spare; the spare can be used for system backups and can be brought online quickly if necessary. Generally, a dual core processor or dual processors is recommended to support Java's multi-threading capabilities and is highly recommended with installations of Team Elements where over 100 users will be using the system.

Operating System

Team Elements has been tested on Linux, Mac OSX, Microsoft Windows, and Solaris. It requires a system with a true Java 5 VM. Team Elements has also been tested with Java 6 VM as well.

Application Server & Java VM

Development, testing, and production of Centric Team Elements runs on Apache Tomcat. Early development used Weblogic, so that may work or need some tweaking. The web application server and database server can be installed on the same machine.

Database server installed

Team Elements runs on PostgreSQL 8.0-8.2 (the unstable uses 8.3 also), MDSE, and Microsoft SQL Server 2000-2005.

Team Elements software installed

Production deployment is done using a .war; development installations can be deployed directly from source to speed up development.

Team Elements installation verified

Verify mail server, indexing, permissions, and more.

The Team Elements software sends email regarding team member invitations, ticket assignment and resolution, and reports. In order for Team Elements to send email, a qualified mail server must be used. This mail server must allow the Team Elements software to send email to internal and external email addresses. After setting up Team Elements, you should create a project and invite a sample user with an external email address, such as a gmail or yahoo address, for testing.

Maintenance and backups configured
