Addiding new fields to an opportunity

Hi,

I need to add some new fields to an opportunity such as who the competition is, whether they have budget, etc. From my understanding folders would be the ideal way to do this, however folders aren't available in the pipeline module. I can't believe that I'm the only one who needs to track information on an opportunity by opportunity basis so I'm hopinig that someone has a solutoin for this.

There is a capability called "Folders" which are user-definable forms in the web-based Admin module and exist in Contacts, Accounts, and Tickets.

Since it doesn't take very long to add this capability to other modules, we plan to add it wherever necessary.

We are also working on a flexibility layer (for release at some point) that will include embedded folders within specific pages. This would allow for custom fields added to existing pages, for example, the account details page without having to see a separate folders tab.

We are always interested in more fields so if you have a list you can provide we'll review them for inclusion.

If you are a developer then new fields can be added in a few steps, but require some maintenance if not submitted and included in the core distribution.

Thanks Matt - here are the fields I need to track with an opportunity:

Environment - What stuff is the account already using
Competitors - Who else is competing for this business
Compelling Event - What event is driving the timeline for purchase
Budget - Where are they getting the money to pay for the purchasse

All fields should be lookup lists

Hello Matt, I'm a developer. can you tell me how to add fields to accounts or contacts? or can you point me where the documentation is?
