Offline version?

1) Is there a more active form? The only reason I found your product is from a comment on the SugarCRM form.
2) Looking for a off-line (remote sales) the can sync with an enterprise version. Can CentricCRM do this?
2)Are other databases available?
Have you looked at Daffodil DB - java RDBMS (www.daffodildb.com) or 1$db. It has a powerful Open Source data replication tool that allows bi-directional data synchronization between heterogeneous databases which could make off-line users capability realility,

Hi K J,

We appreciate asking questions in one of the forums on our web site (the Community tab) so others can benefit from the answers. I'll paste this answer in one of the forums.

We've been working on the offline system for a while now, though it's not ready for public consumption, and I won't elaborate on its capabilities. Can you tell me which information and functionality you would most want in an offline version?

Our software is tested on PostgreSQL and MS SQL, though any really standards compliant SQL database should work with very little effort. So though we haven't actively ported the software to Oracle or DB2, such an effort wouldn't be a big deal. We have one user/developer who has Centric running on Firebird, though it's not yet tested by us. We have no experience with Daffodil or 1$db. WIll look into them as I have time.

Hope this helps, and thanks for your interest.

Offline usage is required because field reps travel to areas of the country that still don't provide a simple dial-up access. So a web-based system does them no good. Currenly, they're using Outlook for contact, calendar and emails but it hasn't many other CRM features. So we'd like them to use the same tools whether they're on the road or in the office. And the syncing between the two needs to be transparent, quick and easy.

Since my last message, I've had the opportunity to read your feature product road-map and it looks just like what we're looking for. Hopefully, tomorrow I'll start testing your ver 3.0 and be able to tell you more.

We'd love to hear your experiences with the 3.0P1 release, though it doesn't have any offline code in it yet. We might have some very basic stuff in P2, which will be out in the next few weeks, I'd think.

We have a tendency here to start with the basics and grow the complexity as our customers point us in the right direction.
