Access type for Accounts?

Access type for Accounts?

Hi all,
i'd like to know why there is no access type
(public, personal, controlled hierarchy) for Accounts
as happens for Contacts.
Is there some specific design decision or structural
constraint to do so?

We decided long ago that Accounts should never be private. We also didn't think that it made sense from a normal business perspective to make them Controlled Hierarchy. So in the beginning that left us Public, which we thought made sense for most businesses.

Since then, we have added the Sites (or Territories) capability that segments accounts into groups, and restricts them to a group of users.

It may not be exactly what you're looking for, but it works for most. If you have other requirements with respect to Accounts or any other part of Centric CRM, please let us know, and we will happily consider them for implementation.
