Unable to import to all fields

9/2/2005 12:23 PM EDT

I am importing data from our current vendor to Centric. During the field mapping process I am limited to choosing from around 20 of the Centric contact fields. This means I cannot import certain data automatically even through the Centric account database has a corresponding field. Will I be unable to import that data automatically since those fields don't appear in the import field selection list?

I gathered that this is a known limitation after reading other messages here, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Bruce,

The accounts importer currently imports only a limited number of fields related to the account along with all the contact fields. We are aiming to build a more comprehensive account and contact importer mechanism in our future releases.

To get a better picture of your requirements, could you list the specific fields related to the account that you are unable to import using your version of centric?

Not only have we expanded the fields for import in v3.2, but we have also added them to the Leads (as Contact) and Leads (as a Company) to Account process.

As Partha suggested, can you tell us which fields you would also like supported?

Thanks for your initial responses. I am attempting to import customer data exported from Salesforce into Centric CRM. We have both standard and custom fields that we would like to import. For example, we have "Reports to", "Ticker Symbol" and "Email Opt Out" fields that we need to get into the Centric CRM contacts database. I don't see a way to map these fields in 3.1.

We similarly have fields that don't map and I don't see a facility to create new fields that correspond. Is the solution to remove those fields and data until v3.2 is delivered?

Martin,

It is not neccessary that all the fields in the csv map to items in the database. It is possible to run the import by just mapping the required fields. Those that are not mapped are not imported.

Bruce,
Thank you for letting us know your requirements. The "Email Opt Out" option will be available in v3.2. Currently we do not have database fields for "reports to" and "ticket symbol", however, we have plans to include relationships among contacts and to integrate the import feature with folders, but nothing concrete on that yet.

I have attempted to "process" a "pending import" several times over 28 hours and the leads do not show up under the leads tab. As far as I can see, I can't do anything with these leads but download the .csv file.
