If a tag cloud portlet is added to a user profile or a custom profile, it doesn't aggregate tags from different constituent tabs in that profile

I tried adding tag cloud portlet to a user profile and to a custom profile. I have a custom profile created for "Courses" in a Connect instance customized for an educational institution. The Courses profile has blog posts, discussion forum topics, wikis, and documents. All these artifacts have tags assigned to individual entries (blog posts, documents, wiki pages, discussion forum topic replies). However, the tag cloud portlet in the custom profile overview page fails to fetch the tags from the different tabs and display a cloud. The same behavior is observed in a user profile. The "Tags" top level link at the top right corner of Connect also fails to aggregate tags from the entire system.

A tag in the aggregated tag cloud can take you to a page that looks similar to a search results page, where the search string is the tag that has been clicked.
