Quick Tour

ConcourseConnect is an extremely flexible platform that enables you to create online solutions that match your unique needs. While the possibilities are virtually limitless, generally speaking, you can think of ConcourseConnect as an online environment in which stakeholders interact through a variety of communication tools such as reviews, blogs, wikis, discussions, and messages.

ConcourseConnect Roles

There are three main roles within the ConcourseConnect solutions: Administrators, Members, and Guests. Each role has unique responsibilities and/or capabilities.

  • Administrators: Administrators essentially “own” the solution in that they are tasked with installing and configuring the software and managing certain back-end functions. Administrators may play a role in conceptualizing and defining the application.
  • Members: Members are users who register. When a user registers, ConcourseConnect automatically creates a member profile. Members can add information to their personal profiles and add additional profiles. They can also contribute other types content.
  • Guests: Guests are users who view site content but do not register. Guests do not have personal profiles and cannot add profiles or contribute other types of content.

The First Stop: The Home Page

The first stop for any user is the home page. The home page is designed to be intuitive and most people will quickly identify the navigational and organizational features.

Core Community Content: Profiles

ConcourseConnect solutions are organized around a series of pre-loaded profile categories—Businesses, Events, Groups, Ideas, Organizations, and People. Baseline personal profiles (ie., People profiles) are automatically generated by the system when users register. Business, Event, Group, Idea, and Organization profiles are created by members.

When a member creates a profile, he or she becomes the “Profile Owner.” Owners have access to tools which enable them to add content to their profiles. Other members may also add content. A business profile from the Gourmet Oasis business directory sample site is shown below as an example.

The content types for each profile can vary. The basic content types are Overview, Reviews, Blog, Calendar, Wiki, Discussion, Classifieds, Promotions, Documents, Lists/Favorites, Badges, Participants, and Messages. Additional content types include Planning and Tickets/Cases.

Member Registration is the Key to Participation

While anyone can view content, only members (ie., registered users) can add profiles and use the content creation and communications tools. To register, a user clicks the Join ConcourseConnect button or the Register link and is taken to a registration page. User names and passwords are automatically sent to new members by the system.
