Hi Jack, I haven't been able to get a public release date for 3.0. Typically there has been a 12-month cycle and we've approached that date. Let me dig deeper and see what's up.

The last code release went up to Google Code and that was version 2. That version has been forked by other groups (I've seen it on GitHub) and it has even become the basis for other products around the world including a source code aggregation site in China.

Since that release, Concursive has been packaging ConcourseConnect up specifically for building social communities and social intranets and much of our work integrates Connect with CRM and Cloud Services like Facebook, Youtube, Vimeo, Google, Yahoo, Open Meetings and OpenOffice. Each of those services requires a bit of setup to get to work in Connect... and we've been doing that with version 3. Like some projects (I'm thinking Google Android's 3.0), some of these versions have never been ready for a public release. Instead they have made great sense to improve pieces and change the way information is modeled with the help of customers. We've done that with our customers and the number of times we've continuously released would make any public release unstable, even though our internal releases have been very stable.

Is ConcourseConnect still Open Source? Absolutely – the code is out there and what's there is a platform for building social networks... is it the latest and greatest from Concursive? No, but with all the integration work and enhanced features of what Concursive is delivering today, I'm not sure ConcourseConnect can be distributed the same way.

In a nutshell, we're long past 3.0 – and from a distribution perspective ConcourseConnect isn't the same as it used to be.

If you've come here because you've found ConcourseConnect to be an interesting product and you and your organization use it, please let us know. Without any feedback we may just keep moving in the direction we've been going in – but if you want to build something great we'd like to know and work with you.
